James Gunn Unveils ‘Creature Commandos’ and Shares Exciting Updates on ‘Superman,’ ‘Supergirl,’ and ‘Lanterns’

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, electrified fans at New York Comic Con with thrilling updates on the DC Universe’s future. He unveiled the animated series Creature Commandos, introducing a unique team of monstrous heroes, and shared exciting news about upcoming projects like Superman: Legacy, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Lanterns.

Creature Commandos promises a fresh narrative within the DCU, featuring characters such as Rick Flag Sr., Frankenstein, and the Bride. Gunn emphasized the show’s distinct aesthetic, describing it as “a real sort of Eastern European kind of aesthetic… grounded, but with some style to it.” He highlighted its mature themes, noting, “It feels more adult.”

The voice cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Frankenstein, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Indira Varma as the Bride. Gunn praised Varma’s performance, stating, “She just grounded it so well, and she’s so incredible in the show.”

Beyond Creature Commandos, Gunn provided updates on other highly anticipated projects. He mentioned that each DCU project will have its own unique style, ensuring a diverse and engaging universe for fans. Gunn stated, “Every single project out of DC Studios is going to be its own thing.”
